About us

S.E.T. (Servizio Emergenze Trasporti – Transport Emergencies Service) is a Voluntary Programme established by Federchimica, the Italian Federation of the Chemical Industry, on the 9th January 1998, following to the Memorandum of Understanding signed together with the Civil Defence Department of the Prime Minister’s Bureau and with the General Direction, the Civil Defence and the Fire-fighting Services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. S.E.T. aimed to support the Fire Brigades in case of emergency within Transports by road, by railway, by sea and, in general, the Distribution of Chemical Products.

S.E.T. is integrated in the I.C.E. Network (Intervention in Chemical Transport Emergencies), managed by the CEFIC (European Chemical Industry Council), based in Brussels. 
The goal of the I.C.E. network is to provide assistance during the management of emergencies and to promote the mutual assistance among Chemical Companies and National Authorities. The I.C.E. Network has 17 European National Response Centres and collaborates with the REMPEC (Regional Marine Pollution Emergency Response Centre for the Mediterranean Costal States), based in Malta.
